GUJRANWALA, Oct 15: A local court sentenced to death a constable and his associate in a Hudood case here on Wednesday.

According to the prosecution, Ayub Khan and his associate Nadim Khan had raped a woman and photographed her naked at her house in Satellite Town on April 19, 2001.

The judge, Rai Ayub Khan Marth, gave the co-accused, Abbas, Sajjad and Arshad, the benefit of the doubt for lack of evidence.

PROBE: The district and sessions judge has appointed Civil Judge Muhammad Altaf to probe an encounter that left a constable and two outlaws dead.

The judge, Riazul Hassan, directed the inquiry officer to submit his report within a fortnight.

Constable Iftikhar Ahmed and outlaws Iftikhar alias Khara and Nasir Hussain were killed during the encounter in Naushera Virkan.
