SIALKOT, Oct 15: Bodies of all the people who drowned in the river Chenab near Head Marala when a boat capsized on Oct 5 have been recovered.

The body of the 19th victim was recovered on Wednesday.

A Rangers motorboat with 25 members of a family on board capsized in the river as a result of which 19 of them drowned.

FOILED: The Pakistani security forces thwarted early on Wednesday morning another major Indian attempt of fencing the Sialkot working boundary’s Zafarwal-Shakargarh-Narowal sector.

According to official sources, the Indian forces started illegal fencing around the working boundary’s sector after which the Pakistani security personnel foiled their attempt. The Indians also suffered defensive loss.

It was the second major attempt of fencing in the last two weeks.

OPPOSITION’S COMPLAINT: Eight members of the opposition in the district council on Wednesday complained about step-motherly treatment being meted out to them by the local administration.

“The residents of these areas have consequently been deprived of basic facilities for the last two years,” they said at a press conference.

The opposition members, including Chaudhry Qamar Abbas Chand, Haq Nawaz, Husain Bajwa, Chaudhry Abdul Hamid, Malik Ali Raza Awan, Malik Tufail and Mian Fasihuddin, also criticized District Nazim Mian Naeem Javed for transferring all the secretaries of their union councils without any reason.

The Nazim, they alleged, had not provided them even a penny from the development projects.

ARMS SEIZED: The Head Marala police have arrested three people and recovered eight grenades, two Kalashnikovs and 250 bullets from their car.

DSP (investigation) Amjad Karim Butt told newsmen here on Wednesday that the police on a picket at the Head Marala bridge signalled a white car (STE-279) coming from Bhimbar (AJK) to stop. But the car riders tried to speed away. After a long chase, police caught them and recovered illicit arms from their custody.

The DSP claimed that they told police during investigation that the arms were to be used for subversive activities.
