LAHORE, Oct 15: The Kashmir Action Committee Pakistan has called upon the OIC summit conference to adopt a new approach for the solution of the Kashmir issue in view of the fast changing world scenario and the position of the Islamic countries.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, KACP president Dr Muzaffar Shah said that Kashmir has become a test case for the OIC.
He also appealed to the OIC secretary-general to apprise the representatives of the member states of the woeful plight of Kashmiris who had been subjected to horrendous atrocities by the Indian troops for the last 15 years.
The only fault of the Kashmiris was that they were demanding their right of self determination in accordance with the UN resolutions which had been agreed to by Pakistan and India.
India had gone back on its commitment and its occupation forces had killed over 80,000 Kashmiris so far; thousands of women had been gag-raped and property worth billions of rupees destroyed by India troops.
Tens of thousands of Kashmiris were rotting in remote Indian jails in abysmal conditions and were deprived of any legal redress. The occupied Kashmir chief minister, Mufti Sayeed, had openly admitted on the floor of the state assembly that over 8,000 Kashmiri young men were missing and their parents had been wanting for years to know about their whereabouts but all in vain.
He appreciated the OIC’s sympathetic attitude towards the Kashmiris for passing resolutions in the past for the solution of the Kashmir and for setting up a Kashmir contact group.
He deplored that India did not allow the OIC fact finding mission to visit occupied Kashmir. The situation had aggravated with India postponing indefinitely a dialogue with Pakistan on Kashmir issue on one pretext or another, he added.
