ISLAMABAD, Oct 15: The supreme council of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal is likely to announce on Thursday a deadline by which the alliance will expect the government to bring the proposed draft constitutional amendment to parliament, sources said.

The supreme council meeting, to be presided over by MMA chief Senator Maul-ana Shah Ahmed Noorani, will discuss the offer of resumption of talks made by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The MMA will also take up the issues relating to grievances of JUI (Sami) with reference to its relations with the MMA’s government in the NWFP.

Besides, the MMA will be facing some soul-searching on complaints by smaller components like JUP, Jamiat Ahle Hadith and Islami Tehrik Pakistan.

The alliance will finalize plans to start a mass-contact campaign.

MMA deputy parliamentary leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed told Dawn on Wednesday that one of the important points on the agenda would be the report that its fact-finding mission would present about the ongoing military operations in the tribal areas.
