Election tribunal judge accuses minister of hurling life threats

LAHORE: The Lahore election tribunal judge whose decision in the NA-122 case has deprived National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq of his office accused Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid of hurling life threats at him.
Retired district and sessions judge Kazim Ali Malik, of the one-man Lahore election tribunal, said in a TV talk show: “I know by whom he (Mr Rashid) is (trying to) frighten me. I’ve understood to whom he gave the message.”
The tribunal, in a verdict on Saturday, declared the 2013 election in NA-122 null and void after finding irregularities in the election process committed by the Election Commission and ordered a re-poll in the Lahore constituency where Mr Sadiq had defeated PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

The verdict earned ire of the PML-N and Pervaiz Rashid termed it biased and said that the head of the tribunal was concerned more about his own projection instead of justice while issuing the judgment.
Mr Malik broke his silence on Tuesday when Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah repeated Mr Rashid’s allegations and claimed that the tribunal head had personal issues with the PML-N which had declined to give a party ticket to his son.
As anti-corruption establishment director-general, added Rana Sana, Mr Malik had problems which led to his summoning by the Privileges Committee of the Punjab Assembly.
Terming the verdict a stain on the independent judiciary, the provincial minister said had there been any judge other than Kazim Ali Malik, he would not have heard the case (because of personal issues).
Responding to the allegations, the judge told a couple of TV channels that he would resign if Rana Sana proved what he had alleged.
He said in the past he had given 30 verdicts in favour of the PML-N but the party never accused him of being biased.
He said he had written a letter to Pervaiz Rashid and would decide about serving a legal notice on the minister after receiving his response.

This is not the first time pml(n) ministers acted in this way but whenever any judgement comes that doesnot suit them these ministers accuse judges and threatens them. Latest example is when justice Baqar Najafi judicial commission report which blame Punjab govt but not only they concealed the report but went all out to threaten the judge. I wonder when honorable Chief Justice will take notice of this?

Whosoever tries to derail Pakistan's progress and comes in its way (directly or indirectly) at a time when the country is making considerable progress across the board, is the country's enemy. Sometimes the enemies have an agenda, on other occasions they are not even aware who is playing them and finally at times there are just personal grudges that need to be addressed without realizing what's at stake. Need to wake up as a nation and unite for a bigger cause. Those who have been critical and impatient with the IK's determination about the rigging in 2013 election can now see what has happened in NA-122! I would not be surprised if similar corrupt practices by PML(N) are not employed in other national/provincial seats to have the election results in their favor.
So, IK is right to demand for the change in electorate process. Please support him. I would go a step further, I would demand the police dept. and judiciary (expecially in Punjab and Sindh) be made totally independent of the political influence so a common man's security is preserved and the justice is in common man's reach.

Whatever may be the quality of justice imparted by Election Tribunal, it was not befitting for the government and ministers to raise allegations against the judge. The best remedy available to the government was to file appeal. Mudslinging on the media on the judge creates cheap impression of the government and its ministers.

In my opinion, we have not attained the qualification of "nation" yet. We are in-disciplined crowed. We see the same trend of electing the representatives. In Karachi we vote to MQM, in rural Sindh PPP, in Punjab PMLN. Only the people of KPK change it representation every time.

PMLN ministers are retards. It is so stupid to question logical and correct decision and they are doing that every day on media. Fact is that such correct decision should be appreciated along with judge for bold decision.
Fact is that, if irregularities or malpractices was found in election (intentional or unintentional) than regardless of cause and culprit involved, election should be declared null and void, and one cannot complain that winning candidate is dealt unjustly as there is no evidence that he/she was involved in that irregularities or malpractice. It is just like, if one finds irregularities or malpractices in nikah (whatever the cause) than that nikah becomes null and void, and bride or groom cannot complain that since it is not their fault, nikah should be declared valid. Same is true for everything, including election results that if there is evidence of irregularities or malpractices than election should be made null and void (regardless of who did that).
