DADU, Oct 14: A large number of inhabitants of the Kalari village, Dadu Taluka, led by Mohammad Ramzan and Ghulam Abbas, held a demonstration outside the local press club on Tuesday to protest against the SHO of Rukkan police station.
Speaking to the demonstraters, Ghulam Abbas said that two influential men, Dilsher Tiwana and Haji Umer Tiwana, barged into the house of a widow, Rozina, in the Kalari village about two days ago.
He alleged that armed men, while holding the family members hostage at gunpoint, criminally assaulted the widow.
Mr Abbas said that when the villagers went to the police station to lodge an FIR against Dilsher and Umer Tiwana, they were arrested instead. The police later released the complainants after receiving a bribe of Rs50,000, he said.
On the occasion, the victim, Rozina, threatened to commit self-immolation if justice was not provided to her.
BOYCOTT: A large number of primary school teachers boycotted their classes and held a demonstration on Tuesday to protest against the assistant district officer (Education), Dadu.
Speaking at the rally, the district president, All Sindh Primary Teachers Association, Ghulam Rasool Chandio, alleged that the assistant district officer (Education) had misappropriated Rs254,000.
