KARACHI, Dec 24: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro chaired a high-level meeting at the Governor House here on Monday to review the law and order situation in the province.

The chief secretary, additional chief secretary, home secretary, finance secretary, IGP Sindh and DIG Karachi attended the meeting, said a statement here on Monday.

The meeting reviewed the law and order situation as well as departmental matters pertaining to the police.

The IGP Sindh and provincial home secretary apprised the meeting about the law and order situation.

The governor stressed that effective action be taken against terrorists and he also called for strengthening the intelligence network and coordination among all the organisations entrusted with law and order.

The IGP informed that during the last month there had been a marked decrease in the incidents of highway dacoities as well as extortions.

He also stressed that action against “patharidars” should continue without any discrimination.

Soomro called for identifying the elements and factors that contribute towards crimes.

The meeting also reviewed the matters pertaining to the reorganisation of police in accordance with the system of devolution of power.

Later, the governor visited the residence of interior minister, Moinuddin Haider, and offered condolence on the killing of his brother.

On the occasion, he also offered ‘Fateha’ for ‘Isal- e-Sawab’ to the departed soul.
