GILGIT, Oct 13: The Imamia Students Organization (ISO) in Gilgit opposed any plan to recognize Israel and warned that they would put up stiff resistance throughout the country if the same was formally recognized.
They expressed their views on the occasion of their annual convention that concluded in Gilgit on Sunday and took out a peaceful rally to celebrate it.
They in the end of a rally passed a resolution and accused the vice-chancellor of Karakuram International University, Dr Azam Khan, of handpicking syndicate members belonging to a particular school of thought, which they termed a conspiracy to bulldoze the newly established varsity, as majority is not being given due representation in decision-making. They blamed that the VC had been appointing ineligible persons to various posts in the varsity and ignoring merit during the recruitment.
The ISO also opposed the “forceful transfer” of assets of the Postgraduate College into the KIU.
They also appealed to the President Musharraf (who is also the chancellor of KIU) for intervening in the affairs of the KIU to take cognizance of the irregularities in the varsity matters.
