ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday announced that Mobilink, a cellular phone company, will compensate its customers by giving credit equal to the loss the users suffered because of excessive deductions from their prepaid mobile phone scratch cards.
A PTA spokesman said the company had assured the authority that it would compensate its customers. The assurance was extended to the PTA by the management of the company after the authority took up the matter with it in response to complaints published in the press about unauthorized deductions of amounts from prepaid cards of its consumers.
The company has also confirmed to the PTA that it had taken remedial measures to address the problem of excessive deductions that occurred due to malfunctioning of software.
The company also said that it would inform the affected customers through central notification system about adjustment of the amount to their accounts.
This is for the second time that the PTA has fined the company by asking it to compensate its customers. Earlier, the authority had imposed a fine of Rs60 million on the company for providing unsatisfactory service to its customers.
