Imran Abbas's Bollywood debut Creature 3D might have failed to please audiences in India but the star is definitely back in the game with Muzaffar Ali's upcoming Bollywood period drama Jaanisaar.

Having played similar roles before in dramas Umrao Jaan Ada (Geo TV) and Noor Bano (HUM TV), the actor looks visibly comfortable in the skin of a royal aristocrat. The film is set in the post-1857 War of Independence era in pre-partition India.

With galloping horses and slashing swords, Imran Abbas looks absolutely regal as he sports a light beard and lets his hair loose. While Imran is indeed not a newbie, his co-star Pernia Qureshi, a fashion entrepreneur, will be trying her hand at acting for the first time, playing courtesan Noor.

Director Muzaffar Ali also makes an appearance in the film as a mentor to both of them who trains them to fight the rulers.

It also turns out that Imran is not the only Pakistani contributing to the film. Singers Abida Parveen and Shafqat Ali Khan will be lending their vocals along with Shreya Ghoshal, Sukhwinder Singh and Malini Awasthi.

The film, which marks the return of Muzaffar Ali who directed the cult classic Umrao Jaan, is an homage to all those who lost their lives in the independence struggle.

The film is slated to release this year on August 21.
