MANSEHRA: A man and his two sons were killed when their car plunged into a deep ravine in Chatterplan area here on Friday night.

The accident occurred when the driver lost control over the steering while negotiating a sharp turn.

The dead were identified as Abbas Ali Shah and his sons, Ilyas Shah and Saif Ali Shah.

The local people and police retrieved the injured and dead from the gorge and shifted them to civil hospital in Shinkiari.

The injured, Munir Shah, who was driving the ill-fated car, was referred to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

According to eyewitnesses Munir Shah jumped out of the car before it plunged into the ravine.

The bodies were handed over to relatives after autopsy at the civil hospital in Shinkiari.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Asif killed Abdul Rasheed over a minor issue in Kabal area of Oghi.

The police registered FIR on the complaint of the victim’s wife and began making raids to apprehend the suspected killer who escaped the scene.

PML-N NAMES CANDIDATE: Pakistan Muslim League-N has nominated former provincial minister Syed Akhtar Shah as its candidate for the office of Mansehra district nazim.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by councillors elect of PML-N and its ally, JUI-F. Federal Minister for Haj and Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousuf was also in attendance.

Akhtar Shah was tasked with contacting independent councillors to seek vote for him.

Mr Shah, who was elected district councillor from his native Kaghan union council, is the son of former senator and lord of Kaghan Syed Muzamal Shah. His younger brother, Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah was a minister in the ANP-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI has already nominated Sheryar Khan Swati, nephew of Senator Azam Khan Swati, as its contender for the district chairman slot.
