KARACHI, Oct 8: A 19-year-old women, who had been subjected to gangrape twice in a week, was admitted to the Civil Hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday.

Sources said the young woman was subjected to gangrape six days before by four young men in Orangi Town, where she lived with her husband.

The sources said the couple were warned of dire consequences if they tried to lodge a complaint against them.

The victim moved to her relatives’ in Liaquatabad in the limits of the Super Market police station and tried to lodge a complaint against the suspects.

However, she was humiliated by the Super Market SHO, who also refused to register an FIR.

The suspects kidnapped the couple in Liaquatabad and this time six of them subjected the woman to gangrape and took photographs of hers, Aurat Foundation Chairperson Anis Haroon told Dawn.

The young victim was in a serious condition and going through a traumatic condition, Ms Haroon said.

The victim’s husband had got himself released after paying Rs10,000 to the suspects, the sources claimed.

The Aurat Foundation chief said the victim was medically examined on Wednesday.

The sources said the victim had been admitted to the Civil Hospital in a such a serious condition that she was unable to record a statement.

DIG Operations Tariq Jamil told Dawn that he had received information about the incident and an FIR would be registered against the suspects.
