FAISALABAD: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered an inquiry into the alleged negligence by the doctors of the DHQ and Social Security hospitals in the treatment of the boy who was killed by police when he was taking selfies with a toy pistol on June 22.

The provincial government has also announced Rs1m financial assistance for the bereaved family of 15-year-old Farhan who was gunned down by the then SHO of People’s Colony police station Farhad Cheema.

Fahad, a friend of Farhan, was also injured when both of them were taking selfies for their Facebook profiles.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah visited the family of Farhan and assured them that the Punjab government would ensure justice and bring the accused policeman to the task. He said the chief minister had been informed about details of the incident.

The family of Farhan said the doctors at the hospitals did not treat him timely that led to his death.

Earlier, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal had also constituted a three-member committee to probe the alleged negligence of the doctors of Social Security Hospital.
