Ton-up Ahsan guides DIB to big win

KARACHI: A whirlwind century from Ahsan Ali inspired Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) to a clinical 72-run win against Candyland in the third Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cricket Tournament at the Lawai Cricket Stadium here on Sunday night.

Ahsan provided a spectacular exhibition with the bat to plunder 116 from 60 deliveries as DIB posted 206-4 in the allotted 20 overs of their Group ‘C’ fixture. Ahsan struck seven sixes and nine boundaries during his man-of-the-match effort, while all-rounder Kamran Ghulam blasted 51 not out off 38 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Candyland, in reply, were all out for 134 in 19.2 overs. Mohammad Asif (26) and Fayyaz Mohammad (25) were the man run-getters Meanwhile in an afternoon Group ‘D’ clash, Qasmi Gymkhana thrashed Kashmore CC by nine wickets.

After dismissing Kashmore CC for 114 in 17.4 overs with slow left-armer Ali Usman grabbing three wickets for five runs and skipper Abid Qasmi three for 38, Qasmi Gymkhana romped to victory thanked to an unfinished partnership of 110 between Arsalan Bajwa (52 off 46 balls, six fours and one six) and Mohammad Ikhlaq (52 off 38 balls, four fours and three sixes).

Ali Usman was named the man-of-the-match.

Qasmi Gymkhana have completed their league schedule which saw them win two and lost one game, while it was second straight defeat for Kashmore CC.
