SUKKUR, Oct 6: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz staged a protest rally here on Sunday to condemn the murder of local party leader, Ghulam Shabir Kamangar.

The JSQM chairman, Bashir Khan Qureshi, led the procession which started from the house of slain party leader and after passing through different localities ended at the press club.

The protesters staged a sit-in there and demanded arrest of culprits. They raised slogans against the police for their failure to arrest the killers.

The protesters issued an ultimatum of eight days to police officials for the arrest of culprits after that a shutter-down strike would be observed in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, the party leader Bashir Qureshi said the government was involved in the target killings to divert the attention of people from issues and concerns of Sindh.

Murders of Ghulam Shabir and journalist Amir Bux Brohi were part of that venture, he alleged.

He said president Musharraf was misleading the people over the Kalabagh dam and Thal canal by making wrong calculations about the availability of water.

He announced that a sit-in in Sukkur would be staged on Oct 26 against the construction of Kalabagh dam and Thal canal. He vowed that all routes leading to Punjab would be blocked on that day.

JUI: District Ameer, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Maulana Abdul Qayoom Halejvi, has condemned the killing of six men in Karachi.

In a joint statement on Saturday, he observed the government of Sindh had failed to provide protection to the people and it seemed terrorists were ruling Sindh.
