SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Six Mujahideen and one civilian were killed in gunbattles in occupied Kashmir, police said on Sunday.

Three Mujahideen died in a 15-hour gunfight in Budgam district, 25 kilometres south of Srinagar, that broke out after an army search operation, a police spokesman said.

At least 10 freedom fighters were in a hideout when they opened fire on the advancing troops. The seven other Kashmiri fighters escaped, the spokesman said.

A civilian, Ahmed Zahoor, was killed in the crossfire and another civilian injured, he said.

Two more Mujahideen were killed in a clash on Sunday in the southern Rajouri district and one Mujahid was shot dead by the Indian troops in the northern Kulgam area, police said.—AFP
