KARACHI, Oct 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has asked the Police Investigation Wing (PIW) to take effective steps for weeding out the elements involved in terrorism and to take them to task.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the law and order situation at the Governor House here on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by Adviser Home Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, Principal Secretary Akhtar Zamin, Secretary Home Anwar Hyder, DG Rangers Maj Gen Salahuddin, Additional Advocate General Kazi Khalid Ali, Brig Ajmal of 5-Corps, Capital City Police Officer, DIG Investigation and other officials.

The concerned officials apprised the meeting about the details of the killings at Hub River Road on Friday.

They said that the accused, in most of the terrorist acts committed so far, had been apprehended while efforts were being made for the arrest of the accused in remaining cases.

Dr Ibad made it clear that security of life and property of citizens was the responsibility of government.

He directed that investigation wing should gear up efforts to bring the culprits to book.

The governor expressed hope that religious leaders would promote positive traditions. “We will have to ensure the safety of the life and property of people through collective efforts,” he emphasised.

He pointed out that damaging the properties of people or disturbing the peaceful conditions would only serve the objectives of terrorists and enemies of the country and nation.—APP
