MIRPURKHAS, Oct 4: The existence of cotton ginning factories in the city has polluted the atmosphere and particularly added to the misery of asthma patients.

Around 15 cotton factories are functioning in the city round the clock with the result that dust and cotton pollens emanating from them frequently cause asthma attacks on the patients.

They are forced to take extra dozes of the medicines including inhalers and oxygen.

Many patients have been compelled to shift to other areas following advice by their consultants.

According to a survey conducted by this correspondent, the factories include Zamindar, Bhitai, Mehran, Memon, SLD, Peromal, Motiram, Sultanabad, KK, Shahbaz, Anmol and Sattari cotton factories.

The residents have demanded of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Sindh government to take notice of the situation and ensure shifting of the factories from the city.

KILLED: A peasant was shot at and injured by unidentified persons in Abdullah Mari village on Thursday.

Kanji Kolhi was present at the land he tilled when he was attacked upon.

He was rushed to Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas from where he was shifted to Hyderabad as his condition was critical.
