KARACHI: Pakistan fetched 10 medals — one gold, two silver and seven bronze — in the five-nation Peace Cup international boxing tournament which concluded at Zahidan, Iran the other day. The team, that comprised pugilists from Balochistan, returned to Quetta by road on Thursday.

According to officials, besides Pakistan teams from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and two teams from the hosts Iran participated in the contest.

Syed Mohammad Asif did the country proud by capturing the only gold for the nation in 56 kg.

Zafar Ali and Ehsanullah won the silvers in 49 kg and 60 kg respectively.

The pugilists who clinched bronze were Nisar Ahmed (81 kg), Naimatullah (91 kg), Abdul Rehman (plus 91 kg), Mohsin (75 kg), Faisal (69 kg), Abdul Hanan (64 kg) and Wasif Ali (52 kg).
