RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to keep him updated on the progress of final touches being given to the metro bus project in the twin cities.

He was addressing a meeting held in Islamabad regarding the Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project on Tuesday. Commissioner Zahid Saeed, who is also the director of the project, briefed the chief minister on the progress of work.

The chief minister inquired about the laying of asphalt on the elevated metro bus track in Rawalpindi which he had found bumpy two weeks ago. He also sought a report on the substandard work on the track near Waris Khan on Murree Road.

He said the project was a shining example of the utilisation of public money on the welfare of the citizens. He said the Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project was the continuity of the process of changing the transport culture started by the Punjab.

The chief minister said with the inauguration of the metro bus service, the residents of the twin cities would enjoy transport facilities which were available in big cities of the world.

The chief minister later visited the Secretariat bus station and directed the officials to complete the construction and decoration work as soon as possible.

He also inspected the Secretariat bus station, landscaping and decoration of other bus stations.

Chairman Metro Bus Implementation Committee Hanif Abbasi, Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal,

Punjab Secretary Information and Culture Momin Agha, contractors and senior officers also attended the meeting.
