LAHORE: A competitive card of six events has been drawn up for the second Lahore Summer Meeting which gets under way at the Racecourse here on Sunday,

The current wave of hot weather gripping the provincial metropolis city of Lahore has resulted in sharply reducing the numerical strength of runner as in all, only 55 horses have accepted to line up for the events, Four races will be contested over the sprinting distance of 900 metres and two over 1000 metres.

Meanwhile the Lahore Race Club (LRC) has decided to strictly enforce quarantine rules on the horses being brought to the club from outside for racing.

A notification issued by the club directed owners and trainers that all incoming horses will have to undergo a thorough check up by the club’s veterinary officer and issued disease clearance certificate before entering in to the stables. Prior to the issuance of the clearance certificate all horses will be put in the quarantine stables near the main entrance.

The step is aimed at protecting animal life.
