GHALANAI: A jirga of Halimzai extended full support to the local administration and security forces in eliminating militants from the area.

Assistant political agent, Ghallanai, Zeeshan Abdullah, chaired the jirga. The participants resolved to fully support the security forces and local administration in fighting militancy. The elders praised the government for holding sports festival, Tour De Mohmand Cycle race and training of levies personnel in the tribal region.

They decided that strict action would be taken against tribesmen who were found sheltering anti-state elements in their areas. They said that terrorism was the combined problem of Pakistan and Afghanistan which needed to be rooted out at all costs.

The Halimzai tribesmen also met Political Agent Waqar Ali Khan and assured him their cooperation in maintaining peace in the region.

The political agent said that all the genuine problems of the tribesmen would be resolved on priority basis.

The tribesmen also demanded reopening of the Pak-Afghan route to boost trade activities in the tribal region.
