ISLAMABAD, Oct 2: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority on Thursday reduced Wapda tariff by an average seven paisa per unit.

The reduction has been made under the quarterly fuel adjustment formula to pass on relief to the consumers because of variation in fuel prices. The tariff for domestic consumers using up to 50 units a month will remain unchanged. The tariff for domestic, Azad Kashmir and agricultural consumers has been reduced by 4.42 paisa per unit. For commercial, industrial and bulk consumers it has been brought down by 11.04 paisa per unit.

Under rules, Nepra is required to revise tariff for all consumers on the quarterly basis.

Meanwhile, Lt-Gen (retd) Saeedul Zafar has been appointed Nepra chairman. The post had been lying vacant since April 2002 when Justice Sa’ad Saud Jan had resigned.
