Published December 24, 2001

KARACHI, Dec 23: The 55th Foundation Day of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) was celebrated on Sunday at Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET), Karachi, with great enthusiasm and fervour.

A considerably large number of students belonging to the IJT, its former workers, political personalities and parents of IJT activists attended the ceremony.

Secretary general, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Sindh, said on the occasion that the IJT was established some 55 years back to safeguard the ideological borders of Pakistan, and since its establishment the Jamiat had striven hard to impart the lessons of patriotism, Islam and humanity.

Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui in his address lauded the sacrifices and services of IJT workers for the protection of the interests of Islam and Pakistan in educational institutions.

Nazim IJT Karachi, Nussratullah also spoke on the occasion. A debate contest was also organized to mark the occasion.—PPI
