DADU, Oct 2: Hundreds of activists of different political parties and people belonging to various villages of Johi Taluka held a demonstration in Johi on Thursday to protest against the oil and gas company, BHP.

They were led by Basheer Ahmed Thaheem, Noor Mohammad Jiskani, Sultan Babar, Mehboob Babar and Ahmed Khan Madhosh.

Their leaders said that the administration of the BHP company was not providing jobs to local people.

Mr Mehboob said that company officials were not paying land compensation to the original landowners ever since the day they had established their camp in Johi.

Mr Basheer alleged that company officials with the support of the local administration were threatening them to end their protest.

0The Pat Gul Mohammad police arrested an accused, Hakim Ali Leghari.

Police also recovered a pistol and four bullets from his possession.

SEIZED: The Excise police, Dadu, raided an area on the fringes of Dadu and Johi and arrested a man, Amin Thaheem, and seized 2kg charas from his possession on Thursday.

ADABI SANGAT: Members of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Mehar branch, held a demonstration in Mehar on Thursday in protest against the appointment of the Sindh Education Minister, Irfanullah Marwat, as Chairman of the Sindhi Adabi Board.

They were led by the treasurer of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat, Azad Anwar Kandharo.

TEACHERS: Primary teachers of Johi Taluka boycotted their classes and held a demonstration in Johi on Thursday to protest against the assistant district officer, education, Johi Asghar Leghari.

The protesting teachers, both male and female, were led by the PTA Taluka president, Huzoor Bux Leghari.
