LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) on Sunday removed three officials, including an assistant director of BPS-17, from service for being involved in misappropriation of Rs5m funds.

The action was initiated by the PHA director general under the PEEDA Act-2006, said a spokesman.

The PHA management had launched a probe into the misappropriation of funds a couple of months ago. The inquiry team found six officials, including Assistant Director (Electrical) Aftab Sultan Kharal, operators Farrukh Ali and Imran Ali (BPS-5), guilty of embezzlement of funds on the pretext of electricity bills’ payment. The management dismissed Kharal, Farrukh and Imran from service and demoted Khalid Majeed (Operator) from BPS-5 to 3. Similarly, it also ordered stopping annual increment for one and two years of Muddasir Ali and Mehboobul Hassan (Operators), respectively.
