Faculties annex title

KARACHI, Sept 30: Sir Syed Girls College advanced into the final of Karachi University Inter-collegiate girls hockey championship 2003 after crushing Govt College for Women Korangi 6-0 in the first semifinal played at University Hockey ground on Tuesday.

The second semifinal will be played at the same venue between Karachi University Faculties and Khatoon-e-Pakistan College on Wednesday at 10: 00 a.m.

Govt Islamia College Arts and Commerce qualified for the final of KU Inter-Collegiate Football (Boys) Championship after defeating Govt Islamia Science College in the first semifinal played at University Football ground on Tuesday.

The other semifinal will be played at the same venue on Oct 1 at 11:00 a.m between the Karachi University Faculties and St. Patrick’s College, who had advanced into the semifinal stage after defeating Govt National College.

Meanwhile Karachi University Faculties won the Karachi Universities Inter-collegiate tennis (Girls) trophy defeating DHA Girls College 2-1 on Monday.

Sonia Sehar of DHA beat Nadia Mukhtar 6-4, 6-2 in the first singles but Farah of Faculties levelled the score when she defeated Lamia of DHA 6-2, 6-1.

Nadia and Farah outclassed Sonia and Lamia 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the trophy.—PPI
