Army lift cup

KARACHI, Sept 30: Pakistan Army captured the All Pakistan Governor’s Gold Cup hockey when they edged out PIA 5-4 after penalty shootout on Tuesday.

In the stipulated 70 minutes the two well-matched outfits were deadlocked 3-3. PIA led 3-2 at half time but Army came back fighting to restore parity in the second half.

There was no score in the extra time and in the eventual shootout Army scored twice while PIA just managed one goal.

Earlier Pakistan Army got the better of Pakistan Police and PIA overcame Wapda in the semifinals to set up final clash.
