KARACHI: The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) has sought withdrawal of the Sindh Development and Maintenance Infrastructure Cess.

In its budget proposal specifically for the province, the OICCI has expressed concern over the rising cost of doing business on account of various levies, taxes and other costs.

It pointed out that high expense outlay being incurred by individual business establishments on security for the last several years due to poor law and order situation in the province was a matter of concern for investors.

Though the province has an edge over other federating units in infrastructure specially port facilities, the steep rise in energy costs amid severe shortages combined with various levies have considerably dampened investors motivation.
