KARACHI, Sept 29: Agha Sabir stroked a superb 110 as KCCA Zone-III made 280 in their first innings on the opening day of the two-day match in the PCB inter-district cricket tournament at the Asifabad Sports Ground on Monday.

Spinners Mohammad Ali Zafar and Azam Hussain shared nine wickets between them.

By close of play, KCCA Zone-IV had made a spirited reply, reaching 108 without loss in 31 overs thanks to good batting of Khurram Manzoor (51) and Khalid Latif (40).

At the TMC Ground, KCCA Zone-I were 96 for two after KCCA Zone-II had been bowled out for 177 in 68.2 overs with off-spinner Tahir Khan taking four for 58.

A solid opening partnership of 160 between Ashraf Ali (81) and Saqib Zia (65) helped KCCA Zone-V to 230 all out in 79.3 overs against KCCA Zone-VI at the Student Ground. Off-spinner Irfanuddin excelled with six for 47.

Zone-VI were in some trouble at 36 for three at stumps.

Our Correspondent adds from Hyderabad: Medium-pacer Kashif Ali claimed six for 25 as Dadu restricted Sanghar to 133 all out on the first day at the Niaz Stadium.

The only batsmen to shine for Sanghar were Kashif Ajmal (35) and Asif Baig (21).

By stumps, Dadu were already in the lead, reaching 152 for two with Akhtar Bangash scoring 83 with the help of seven fours and three sixes.

Mohammad Saleem (49) and skipper Shahid Qambrani (17) were at the crease.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Islamabad: Rawalpindi left-arm spinner Alamgir Khan ran through the Islamabad batting on Monday to send them packing for a paltry 152 on the first day of the PCB Inter-district cricket championship at the Shalimar Ground.

Alamgir claimed a rich haul of six wickets for 43 runs while Iftikhar Mahmood, another left arm spinner snared three to gain the early advantage in this two-day match.

Raheel Majeed struck a fine 50, an innings punctuated with six hits to the ropes with Adil Hanif collecting 37 runs.

But Islamabad did well to pick up three Rawalpindi wickets by the close of play, medium pacer Bilal Asad taking the honour conceding 20 runs.

Naveed Qureshi scored 34 runs while Sohail Nasir was 34 not out when play ended.

In another match at the KRL Stadium, Attock, helped by Nadeem Sikander who captured four for 22, took a 31-run first innings lead against Chakwal.

After being put in to bat, Attock were restricted to 134 by paceman Shahjahan who claimed five wickets for 20 runs. Yaqoob Masih and Wasim, who both scored 27 runs apiece were the leading scorers.

Chakwal were bowled out for 103, Adnan Ghani proving Attock’s second best bowler for the day behind Nadeem, taking three for 27. Awais Zia with 29 was the highest scorer.

At Shalimar Cricket Ground:

At KRL Stadium: ATTOCK 134 in 38.3 overs (Yaqoob Masih 27, Wasim 27; Shahjahan 5-20, Khurrum Riaz 3-18); CHAKWAL 103 in 48.1 overs (Awais Zia 29, Khurrum Riaz 24; Nadeem Sikander 4-22, Adnan Ghani 3-27, Ayub Akhtar 2-22).
