LAHORE, Sept 27: A walk, a paintings exhibition and tableaux by students of different schools at Children’s Library Complex were held to mark the World Tourism Day on Saturday.

The walk, led by Punjab Tourism Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, started and finished at the complex. The minister later inaugurated an exhibition of paintings by students of different private city schools.

Mr Iqbal said on the occasion the TDCP was drafting a Punjab Tourism Policy and would announce shortly.

He said more job opportunities should be created as unemployment was leading educated youth to criminal activities. The tourism policy would generate more employment opportunities and become the largest employment sector.

Mr Iqbal said tourism was an interesting, recreational and educational hobby, and if presented in a better way, more and more people could be attracted towards tourism.

He also announced a one-day free trip to Lahore Zoo for schoolchildren who participated in the paintings exhibition and walk.

He gave away prizes to position holders of the paintings exhibition. The overall first prize was awarded to the students of Sir Syed Cambridge School. The individual first prize was given to Zara, second prize to Irtiza of Yousuf School System and third prize to a student of Divisional Public School. Individual cash prize of Rs5,000 each was given to Maliha Babar of Heritage School and Fatima Khalid of Yousuf School System.
