RAWALPINDI: All link roads of the city’s main artery will be reconstructed after the completion of metro bus project.
Commissioner Zahid Saeed told Dawn that the district coordination officer had been asked to prepare a report about the roads connecting Murree Road.
He said the basic aim was to give new look to the city and improve the condition of the roads.
He said the Double Road, Airport Road as well as Ch. Bostan Road would be reconstructed by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) under Punjab annual development programme.
He said that the remaining roads would be constructed by the City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) and Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA).
He said the civic bodies would present their reports soon.
About metro bus project, the commissioner said the contractors had assured to complete the work on bus stations from Saddar to Parade Lane by April 10.
He said the reconstruction work of Murree Road was in progress but faced some delay due to the recent spell of rains.
He said the work on reconstruction of Murree Road from Marrir Chowk to Committee Chowk was under way.
The commissioner said that a total 14 pedestrian underpasses including two in Rawalpindi would also be completed by April 10. The NLC working at package-II from Committee Chowk to 6th Road assured the RDA that it would complete the construction of bus station by April 15.
