Rigging allegations: President issues ordinance to form judicial commission

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain today issued an ordinance to proceed with the formation of a judicial commission to investigate allegations of rigging in the 2013 general elections, a demand made by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) during the party's 126-day-long sit-in in Islamabad last year.

The PTI has been saying that its return to the National Assembly depends upon the formation of the commission to investigate rigging allegations.

After Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif earlier this week gave the go ahead to a draft agreement for setting up the judicial commission, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced the signing of an agreement between the PTI and PML-N for the formation of the aforementioned.

According to the signed agreement, the judicial commission will investigate the matter preferably within 45 days of its making.

Jehangir Tareen represented the PTI in talks, while Ishaq Dar represented the government. After both parties assented to the points of the agreement, the government gave consent for the formation of the judicial commission.

@PakistaniAwam at least the Judicial commission is formed. At least 1 out of 2 demands were accepted. This is all due to the sit ins. Before the sit ins nothing was being done. Take what you get. This is called negotiations.

Well done IK. You proved, "if there is a will, there is a way". You are determined enough to achieve the higher goal possible. I believe that determination is the fighting spirit of a person, without determination, a person would tend to give up too easily in getting what he/she wants. @Junaid If you are talking to Pakistani awam then it take what you get does not make sense Awam elect these criminals to rule them. Awam should be through them out. They work for awam not the other way around. But the Fact is it in Pakistani awam those support and elect these criminal need a brain treatment

The Election Commission authorities should visit Canada to see how easy it is indeed to conduct a fair and transparent election. I cast my vote last year for the first time here in Canada and was amazed to see how comfortable they make it for the voters. May be they know and just don't want the system to change or may be they know that there is no point in trying to change the system. "If you want to make enemies, try to change something." Woodrow Wilson On that note, I salute anybody who tries to change the system. If you really want to see how difficult it is, try to change something at home or at work and see how the others who are otherwise good people resist. Now imagine about changing a system where several mafia groups have their own states within the State. Hats off to mighty Khan!!
