VEHARI, Dec 22: Transporters humiliate commuters when they protest against charging old fares despite reduction in petroleum prices.

A group of passengers told this scribe that the decrease in petroleum prices has not benefited them and demanded that the government should take measures to reduce fares and pass the benefit to the common man.
JIHADI ORGANIZATIONS: Different Jihadi organizations have shifted their offices to unknown locations from the main city. They have also removed signboards and other publicity material from public places and closed down fund collection camps.
A Hizbul Mujahideen spokesman said due to the government campaign, the offices had been shifted. However, he claimed that their spirit of Jihad would not be vitiated.
It is learnt that some Jihadi groups have set up their camps in the rural areas of the district.
CURRENCY NOTES: People have expressed their anger on the refusal of scheduled banks, traders and transporters to accept Re1 and Rs2 denomination currency notes since
Dec 20.
Long queues of people can be seen outside scheduled banks in the city waiting to exchange currency notes with coins.
The State Bank of Pakistan had notified that currency notes of Re1 and Rs2 denomination would become invalid after
Dec 31.
People have urged the State Bank governor to look into matter that the currency notes are not refused before the target date.
