QUETTA, Sept 26: Defending Champion Pakistan Railways, Lahore Colors, Faisalabad, Karachi Whites, Karachi Colors, Quetta Whites, Quetta Colors and Sukkur qualified for the quarterfinals of the 20th women hockey championship 2003.
In the last league match Quetta Color’s skipper Riffat Mehdi became highest scorer in a single match when she scored eight goals against Mirpurkhas on Friday with double hat tricks. Quetta Colors won 11-0.
Right-out Ruqia opened account for Quetta Colors when she scored in the 15th minute of the first half. She scored another goal in the 17th minute while left-in Amina made it 3-0.
After three goals, Quetta’s skipper and centre forward Riffat took charge and scored two more goals in 34th and 36th minutes of the first half. The score in the first half was 5-0.
Riffat scored six more field goals to complete the scoring.
In another match Faisalabad defeated Hyderabad 5-0 having led 3-0 at half time. Left-in Saira netted the first goal in the 8th minute while six minutes later left-out Ambreen doubled the lead and Centre forward Rashida slammed the third goal in the 34 minute.
Right-in Samira scored two more goal in the 44th and 58th minutes to seal the fate of the match.
Karachi Colors squeezed past Lahore Whites 2-1 in the third match of day.
Karcahi took lead in the 10 minute when centre forward Ghazala netted.
The second goal was scored by right- in Anila in the 20th minute as Karachi led 2-0 at half way stage. Right-out Zirwa reduced the margin in the 60th minute.
