LANDI KOTAL: A 10th grade student couldn’t take his matriculation examination on Friday as the Landi Kotal political administration has been keeping him in the local lockup for the last three weeks under the collective territorial responsibility clause of the FCR.

Speaking to reporters at the press club here on Friday, Mirajuddin, the elder brother of the imprisoned Maaz Shinwari, alleged that despite several requests through local elders, the administration refused to set free the student.

“Due to illegal incarceration my younger brother also couldn’t take matriculation examination which commenced today (Friday),” lamented Mirajuddin. He added the administration issued arrest warrants for his family members after a scuffle with some armed men who wanted to abduct him (Shinwari) on gunpoint from the main bazaar some three weeks back.

Mirajuddin appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and additional chief secretary, Fata, to look into the matter and order the immediate release of his teenaged brother.
