LAHORE: Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the alleged mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks, has filed another petition in the Lahore High Court seeking a direction for the Punjab home secretary to decide his detention matter in the light of an order passed by Islamabad High Court.

Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa will take up the petition on Thursday (today).

The judge dismissed a similar petition of Lakhvi during the last week, directing him to file a representation before the Okara district coordination officer (DCO).

In his fresh petition, Lakhvi through his counsel pleaded that the detention order issued by the DCO was contempt of the verdict issued by the IHC.

The IHC had set aside third-time detention of Lakhvi and ordered the authorities to release him immediately. However, before his release, the Okara DCO on March 14 issued a fresh detention order against Lakhvi.

Previously, he was also granted bail in the case.

Lakhvi, a central leader of Jamatud Dawa, is accused of being mastermind of the Mumbai attacks that killed at least 166 people.

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
