ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Thursday said his government would respond to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s demand on the constitutional package after his return from the US.

Talking to reporters at a function marking the 143rd Founders Day of Lawrence College Ghora Gali Murree, Prime Minister Jamali said the MMA delegation met him on Wednesday, and handed over their response to the package which the government had sent to them.

He said the MMA leadership was told that their proposals would be studied and the government reaction would be available only after he and the president were back home after their visits.

In reply to a question, the prime minister said that both the government and the MMA were trying to resolve the issue amicably.

About construction of more water reservoirs in the country, the prime minister said the president had given a clear-cut policy and the government would take all the four provinces into confidence on the matter.

He said personally he would not hesitate in taking decisions which were in Pakistan’s interest. About his forthcoming visit to the United States, Mr Jamali said he would uphold the cause of Pakistan during the talks with American leadership.

Asked if he was hopeful about the talks success with the MMA, the prime minister said: “I am an optimist and have never lost faith in Allah.”

About the talk of some parliamentarians’ resignations, he said he had not seen any. “This is all hearsay and rumours,” he added.
