I think pakistan team is twice as good as what it has been. and they might just come good today. This is after all a game and not war. I request my fellow Indians not to get carried away by writing unnecessary negative comments and that they should comment purely based on the plus and minus sides of the teams involved. Pakistani team's strength is its bowling rather than its batting. As such, they should have bowled first and should have applied pressure to restrict the Austrilians to a score below 250. Now that they have chosen to bat first and in the light of the team having lost the openers early and that the consistent Misbah and the much maligned Haris Sohail are holding fort, they should try to score at least 280. I have no idea how they will make it against a very good bowling and fielding attack. They should take the chances as they come. This is a very tough match for Pakistan, so best of luck.

They are just crazy. Both Misbah and Haris played predetermined shots. Actually Haris played many shots where he just had decided to swing his bat without looking at the ball. Misbah tried the same slog which he did before but this time the ball was 2 feet out side the off from where he had to bring it back to the leg. Umar Akmal is becoming a mini Afridi who doesn't know how to avoid airborn shots from the very start of his innings. We have got batsmen who on their best days can only scores in 30s and 40s.

These batsmen don't deserve to be playing international cricket at par with big nations. Every one wants to hit a six, Haris tried a heave, Misbah, Umar, Afridi non thought of playing out the overs. Had they played 50 overs, they could have got 250 without playing high shots. Very annoyed at Haris and Umar Akmal. Haris played at least 5 shots which were predetermined. And Umar is just a Waste, he can't build his innings before trying high flying shots which always fall on the wrong side of the rope. I have counted and make it 7 out of 10 times that he gets out the same way. Management is as bad as the batsmen. They should have taken power play when Afridi came to bat, he then at least had a better chance to survive. But I am sure they were sleeping.

For a senior cricketer who played almost 400 ODIs, his innings today was totally irresponsible - after 5 wickets down he should have made sure to play till the 50th over, instead he was swinging his bat like a school kid. Afridi is probably the most irresponsible cricketer of all time. If he or any of the top order had some patience to ensure wickets don't fall, they could have scored big in the last 15 or 10 overs.

Very talented pakistani team. The problem is their understanding of ODI cricket is hopeless. They feel they can slog and build a total of 300 + . One needs to take guard keep a level head and only hit the loose deliveries and build a innings. Atleast one batsman has to hold the innings together make a big hundred and 2 /3 players need to support him with big partnerships of 50/ 75 runs. Then totals like 300+ are possible. Its not fluke. Pakistanis need good planning. The way they play it is typically of a team not comfortable with each other. I hope all Pakistanis team members atleast talk with each other and make a strategy before the match. Anyway seems like too late, they are on their way out.

how can Pakistan even let Afridi play in such a crucial encounter, never understood this guy, does he have any cricketing sense, should think of his country and the team, until and unless Pakistani cricket comes out of the political and monetary schackles, there isn't going to be any improvement, it all comes down to Misbah everytime since last 5 years or so to guide the innings. Pakistan should have concentrated on taking easy singles and twos and keeping the wickets till 35th over. They would have easily reached close to 200 and opened up there after. They do not seem to have a plan on how to build an innings. By not focusing on building partnerships, Pakistan got into a tight with a difficult to defend total.

Instead, they came up with weird theories like "IPL contracts" (Basit Ali) and "pitch tailor-made for India" (Sarfaraz...as if SA didn't bat on it) to explain India's win. Why can't they understand filling the team with only "talented" players won't bring them the Cup? Teach your players to field, goddamnit....

Well, the Pak fielding coach who resigned before the WC was spot on in his decision which came to fore in Q/F costing Pakistan a win against Australia. Also he was being unnecessarily arrogant during those 4 good overs he bowled - but when Watson started giving back, Wahab couldn't take it like a man, instead he was cribbing and crying to the umpire - a very poor and sour loser attitude.

What happened to Misbah's momentum ??? I wrote earlier that this game would be one-sided and it turned out to be so, as its too much to expect a minnow to beat Austrlia in their backyard.... The SF between India and Australia would be of equals and any team that performs better on the day will win.. At least viewers will not be bored by watching a one-sided game...

Today's match was offered on a platter for Pakistan to win. But fielders dived to stop when there were no cover to chase, dropped Smith and Maxwell, exposed incompetent fielders at critical positions, bowlers offered width and what not. This 213 was defendable. But Wahab Riyaz, wah wah. You deserve 21-gun salute when you return home.

Feels for Wahab. He was let down by his teammates. Had they clinged on to those catches, it would be a different story. Anyway congrats for Pakistan who made it a contest worth watching.

To those who say wahab's bowling was brilliant. His stats were 9 overs 54 runs 2 wickets with an economy of 6.00. thats worse than Starc, hazelewood and johnson's bowling. We failed in all three departments - Batting, bowling and fielding. Obviously Pakistan's loss didn't come as a surprise keeping in view their past performances. Looking forward to India vs Australia - now that game is going to be a real cracker!

The result was as expected by many. Now I can watch semi finals where giants will battle on equal footing. The minnows like bangladesh and Pakisatn are out of tournament thankfully. we can now see some real good cricket.

Congrats to Australia for winning QF match against Pakistan. Pakistan could not make it mainly due to failure of their batsmen. Australia was superior hence could make it. What a bowling performance Wahab Riaz turned out. The best one could watch and exposing the weakness in Aus batting order. Wonderful Wahab and wish you all the best In the future. Dhoni to make a note and aim our bowling accordingly on 26th.

Well, on a positive note, the players will at least be allowed to enter Pakistan after this loss, had they been handed a thumping defeat again by India (which, guys, is inevitable in Wold cups) the entire Pakistani team would be running from Pillar to post and the country would have sucked the living daylights out of those poor 15 players :D

Well...Pakistan could have easily won this match. 10-20 more runs, some tight fielding, taking catches ...and putting pressure on this weak aussie team. You got to do that, if you want to win the world cup. And Wahab riaz ...i told one of my Pakistani friend at the initial phases of the tournament that he is going to be your best bowler, when it will really matter. Anyway....we Indians will take your revenge from aussies. Well played.

The problem with you guys is you hype your players so much look at Afridi what has he done in the whole tournament, look at Shezad Ahmed what did he do? Groom some nice youngsters. Riaz played real well but he is also touching 30ish

Good fight by Pakistan bowlers.it was a miserable batting lineup that let the team down. Its a fact that the present team is a poor shadow of a once mighty pakistan . Moreover they lack the psychological attacking spirit, a unique spirit of Pakistan cricket team. I wonder if their is any correlation between the present chaotic state of the country and the psyche of the team. As there is no scarcity of talent, hope soon it will be formidable side.
