Walkout staged

Published September 25, 2003

KOHAT, Sept 24: The opposition in the district council staged a walkout from the session to protest against what they termed the arrogant attitude of the district Nazim on Tuesday.

The opposition members led by Mahtab ul Hassan, Nazim from Ustarzai earlier demanded from Malik Asad to allocate funds judiciously among the union councils and give due respect to the Nazims.

The Nazim informed the council members that funds had been allocated on the basis of backwardness of the areas and it was technically not possible to distribute money equally among the UC Nazims.

He said that he had apologized during the last session following exchange of hot words with some of the members and now the opposition was just exploiting the issue.—Correspondent
