PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party has held Pakistan Muslim League-N responsible for the defeat of its (QWP’s) candidates in the Senate elections despite forging an alliance with the latter.

A QWP spokesman in a statement here on Sunday said that the party wanted reconciliation with rest of the opposition political parties, but they demanded undue share in the process and thus the adjustment for Senate elections could not be made possible.

“We, from the day one, were against horse trading and attempted to take along the opposition parties to fail the malpractice,” the statement said and added that as result of failure to form alliance with opposition parties, QWP named Abdul Malik Khan as candidate on technocrat seat, Amaar Ahmed Khan on general seat, and Waqar Ahmed Khan as covering candidate.

“We forged an alliance with PML-N for the Senate elections and our support helped the PML-N candidates to emerge victorious, but the ruling party didn’t vote for QWP’s nominees,” regretted the spokesman.

Similarly, he also criticised PTI for violating the sanctity of the Upper House by taking out their votes from the polling booth.

“QWP timely protested against the illegal practice but the relevant officials didn’t take notice of the matter. Our party also protested against the changes in procedure for counting of the votes,” the statement said.
