Highway in need of repairs

Published September 23, 2003

SADIQABAD, Sept 22: The busy highway which links important towns of Rahim Yar Khan district and runs parallel to the main railway line is in a shambles.

Connecting the district headquarters with Khanpur, Kot Samaba, Feroza, Jetha Buttha, and Liaquatpur (the populous towns of the district), it joins the national Highway at Channi Goth.

Dotted with potholes, the 100-km highway is a nightmare for motorists, with 50-km stretch from Channi Goth to Jetha Buttha almost unmotorable.

The bad condition of the road has compelled the Highway authorities to divert heavy traffic to GT Road via Tarinda Muhammad Pannah and Chowk Zahir Pir. By using this route, each vehicle has to cover an extra distance of 50km to reach Channi Goth.
