KARACHI, Sept 22: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat said that education department would advertise 16,000 vacancies next week.
He said this while speaking at a public meeting of the Karachi Awami Ittehad at Banaras Chowk on Sunday.
He said efforts would be made to grant lease to Karachi’s old katchi abadis at the old rate.
“The problems of people, living in katchi abadis, relating to health, education, drinking water etc are not being solved,” he said.
He said the children of the poor, who were playing an important role towards the development of the country with their sweat and blood, also had right to good education, adding that the government was making efforts for achieving this.
Deploring that people living in katchi abadis for years, were still deprived of lease, he said concrete measures would be taken to grant lease on old rates to these people.
He declared that time had come to make the Ittehad successful so that every one could get his legal rights.
He noted that transporters had played an important role towards national progress and serving the people and their problems needed to be resolved.
Speaking on the occasion, chief of Awami Ittehad, Lala Fazal karim Khan, said that a number of primary, middle and secondary schools and colleges were needed in Qasba, Banaras, Orangi, Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony, Bawany Challi, Metroville Site and SITE Town.
He demanded employment for the youth of these areas.
Mr Marwat said all such areas where schools and colleges did not existed, be pointed out for providing educational facilities.
Javed Khan Khawaja, Anjum Amazai, Abdul Rehman Tanoli, Akram Mughal and Ch Naeem also spoke on the occasion.—APP
