KARACHI, Sept 22: Sindh’s Information Secretary Ms Mehtab Rashidi has called for giving due consideration to women role in economic and social development while framing the macroeconomic policies.
Inaugurating a workshop on “Gender Responsive Budgeting,” organized by the Social Policy and Development Centre (SPDC) on Monday, she stressed on giving gender budgeting an important component while allocating resources at the federal and provincial levels.
Ms Kartin Scheinder, a German expert on gender budgeting, said that gender equality is a fundamental human right and its neglect in framing of macroeconomic policies can prove to be very costly.
Ronaldo Bahamondes, Consular Development of Canadian High Commission, in his key note address said that those budgets which were prepared without taking structural differences could aggravate gender inequality and also affected efficiency of public spending.
