Man killed in fireworks explosion

SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 21: A salesman died, six people critically injured and a number of houses were damaged in a fireworks blast in a small town on Jaranwala Road, 32km from here, on Sunday evening.

George Masih, the salesman, was present inside the shop in Faizpur Khurd when the explosives went off. He died on the spot whereas six people in the neighbourhood sustained critical wounds when their houses were partially damaged by the impact.

Five of them — Safia, Sughra, Haider Ali, Zafar Masih and Tasneem Bibi — were rushed to the Mayo Hospital in Lahore.
