QUETTA, Sept 21: Former Balochistan Bar Association president Ali Ahmed Kurd was returned unopposed from Balochistan as vice-president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). The polls to elect the association’s office-bearers are scheduled for Oct 25.

Last date for filing the nomination papers to contest the election 2003-04, was Sept 20, 2003, and Ali Ahmed was the sole candidate from Balochistan who filed his papers for the post of vice-president.

Three other candidates from Balochistan— ex-judge of the Balochistan High Court Tariq Mahmood, former advocate-general Ashraf Khan Tanoli and senior lawyer Muhammad Riaz Ahmed— will contest the election for the post of the SCBA president.

Balochistan Bar Association President Muhammad Mohsin Javed here on Sunday told Dawn that they were supporting Tariq Mahmood for the presidentship.
