PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that a comprehensive development programme would be started in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) soon after the return of temporarily dislocated persons to their homes.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation from South Waziristan Agency comprising elders of the Mehsud tribe at the Governor House here on Saturday.

He said the incumbent government was well aware about the problems of tribal people and TDPs and would utilize all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and dignified resettlement.

Mr Mahtab said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the sustainable peace and development of the tribal region. The services and sacrifices of the tribal people and security forces in the war against terrorism are highly valuable and well acknowledged and will always be remembered with appreciation, he added.

The governor assured the delegation of taking necessary action to restore peace and solve their grievances. He said that tribal people had practically proved that Pakistan was dearest to them. While appreciating the spirit of patriotism of the tribal elders, the governor said that the tribal people would never hesitate to offer any sacrifice in future too.

Sardar Mahtab said that the stability and development of the country was not possible without restoration of peace and harmony in the tribal region, adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was sincere in rooting out terrorism and restoring peace Fata at any cost.

The governor said that early repatriation of the displaced tribesmen was the topmost priority of the government.
