MQM disowns ‘worker’ who blamed it for factory fire

KARACHI: Declaring that the man alleged to have set a Baldia Town factory on fire was not associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the party’s coordination committee has demanded that the government should hang the person at the local roundabout in accordance with the law and Constitution.
A report submitted by a Rangers official in the Sindh High Court said that MQM was behind the fire incident that claimed the lives of at least 258 factory workers. The report was based on the information collected from an alleged MQM worker, Rizwan Qureshi.
The MQM committee said in a statement that the suspect, Rizwan Qureshi, was not its worker and the party had nothing to do with him. “The MQM has zero tolerance for terrorists, extortionists and criminal elements,” it said.
The committee said that after this clear denial the suspect should not be called an MQM worker.
‘Test case for govt’
Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said on Saturday that the factory fire report was a test case for the government if it was sincere in taking action against those behind the brutal incident.
Speaking at a press conference here, he questioned the delay of more than a year in presenting the report before the court.
PTI Information Secretary Shireen Mazari said the revelations were “not surprising”. In a statement released in Islamabad on Saturday, she termed the factory fire “the deadliest incident of extortion by this political party in the urban centres of Sindh”.

On top of that politicians are such a good nature people that they are loyal to each other, stick together, support each other in times of need, look after each other, after publicly blaming invite each other for dinner, even give up their right to be opposition, and become 'coalition partner' (mil-kay), and do not see any need to change the system. the Rangers report doesn’t state that Qureshi carried out the attack. It states that Qureshi heard from an MQM official that another MQM official did it. The Baldia Town allegation itself is only composed of 500 words, and provides no supporting evidence. The first sentence reads:
“During the interrogation, the accused [ie Qureishi] revealed that Well-Known High Party official demanded extortion money (BHATTA) of 20 Caror though his front man from the owner of Ali Enterprises in Aug 2012; on this demand of extortion money (BHATTA) the factory owner met with Sector in-Charge of Baldia Town Asghar Baig and told him that on the demand of Party High Official someone asked them for extortion money (BHATTA)”
The last sentence reads: “Accused [ie Qureishi] told that these all information he took from ex-Senior In-charge Baldia Town”. In other words, Rangers are claiming Qureshi didn’t do it, but he heard from someone who told him what happened.
So it seems that there is no “evidence” for the claim, except what Qureishi said whilst being interrogated by the Rangers in their interview cell.

The factory owner went to the MQM section incharge to protest the bhatta collection saying that it was being collected EVEN THOUGH they were party supporters.
This naturally implies that the bhatta collection is an ongoing activity where only supporters are exempt. Everyone else is fair game.
How can the MQM can say with a straight face that its against extrortionists? The statement is laughable at best and traitorous at worst.

Totally inappropriate headline by Dawn. Clearly they are trying to victimize MQM. Apart from Mr. Qureshi's statement, there is no proof presented that MQM was involved in this. This must be a petty criminal who, at best, was a worker in it.
At least until the investigation is complete, and all sources and proofs are presented and cross checked, a news organization shouldn't judge a party (or an individual).
It has further come forward and said there is zero tolerance for terrorists, and said Mr. Qureshi should face the full force of law. This speaks volumes about MQM's attitude toward criminals/terrorists masquerading as their workers.

If he is claiming innocence then entire TTP should be vindicated from killings of each and every Pakistanis. This matter should be resolved by Military Court and culprits should be hanged for this atrocious terrorism on the Citizen of Pakistan or next time MQM would be more daring to do something more horrific than this Baldia incident where 280 people were burnt to death.

MQM isn't guilty until it is proven in the court of law, Media sensationalises news based on third party information or JIT report that is their cover up but intellectual would treat a news as a conjecture until a conviction is made. Example Jinnah Pur, Halima Said's murder, including the Master mind of Shia mosque blast named in one JIT which turned out fake and that was against Haider Abbas Rizvi a senior MQM parliamentary.

A proper investigation must be conducted on this incident and whoever, including MQM, is found involved be hanged publically. However, MQM is a routine target of allegations by a certain sector of our law enforcing agencies as it is easily sellable. A proper investigation must also be carried out against them for maligning MQM and for the extra judicial killing of scores of MQM office bearers and workers.

Very interesting, the MQM has cleared herself from any responsibility for the huge fire. They were not the doors locking people to block the fire exits.
Rizwan Qureshi was not the member of MQM. This case has been prolonged very much without any compensation for the dead people or hanging the owner of the factory. That is what we got from fake democracy.

Altaf Bhai, there are no criminals among the activists of MQM, even Saulat Mirza who gunned down Shahid Hamid, MD KESC, his driver & a body guard.Mirza's all appeals were rejected but he missed his date with Hangman because MQM pressured Nawaz Sharif. Would you care to hang him in the public ? Here is a chance to prove it.
