GUJRANWALA, Sept 18: Farmers and owners of agriculture lands measuring less than 12.5 acres have resented collection of tax from them despite the provincial government’s order of their exemption.
At a meeting held here on Wednesday, the complainants said the chief minister had exempted the owners of lands measuring less than 12.5 acres under a relief package a few months ago.
However, they said, no notification had been issued so far due to which the revenue department patwaris were raiding their houses to recover agricultural income tax.
They said Rs100 per acre agricultural income tax was being recovered from farmers and small landlords, though they had already been paying other taxes to the government.
They demanded the government functionaries to notify their exemption from tax without delay.
