QUETTA, Sept 18: Eight MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim League and the National Alliance boycotted the session of the Balochistan Assembly on Thursday in protest against the alleged “mistreatment” of the coalition government with them.

Differences within the treasury benches having been cropping up since long over the sharing of power, representation in the cabinet and distribution of development funds.

The dissident group reportedly wanted to give a message by boycotting the proceedings of the assembly that Balochistan’s coalition government could be destabilized if the domination of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in the alliance was not checked.

Soon after the session started, the youngest MPA of the PML, Shoaib Nusherwani announced that he and his colleagues would boycott the proceedings in protest against continuously being ignored by the government.

After a brief speech, he and four other MPAs of PML and the National Alliance boycotted the session.

After their boycott, former chief minister Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali also stood up and expressed his dismay over standing committees of the house not having been established. Mr Jamali said he had also decided to boycott the session.

Sardarzada Mir Bakhtiar Khan Domki of the PML-Q also accompanied him.
